A Durham Region Tradition Celebrating Agriculture, Homecraft & Community Spirit Since 1862

The Uxbridge Fall Fair, proudly hosted by the Uxbridge-Scott Agricultural Society, has been one of Durham Region’s most enduring rural celebrations since 1862. For more than 160 years, the fair has brought together farm families, neighbours, and visitors to celebrate agricultural excellence, homecraft traditions, and the vibrant community spirit that defines Uxbridge and the surrounding township.

A Fair Rooted in Pioneer Farms & Early Settler Life

When the fair began, Uxbridge was a bustling farming settlement surrounded by fertile fields, mills, and small industries. Agricultural societies were essential to early community life, helping farmers improve livestock, share knowledge, and strengthen social ties throughout the township.

Early Uxbridge fairs featured livestock judging, homegrown produce, preserves, quilting, sewing, and demonstrations of essential homesteading skills. Many of these traditions continue to anchor the fair today.
