About the Fair

A Frontenac County Tradition Celebrating Agriculture, Homecraft & Community Spirit Since 1855

The Sydenham Fall Fair, proudly presented by the Sydenham Agricultural Society, has been a cherished rural tradition in Frontenac County since 1855. For more than 165 years, the fair has brought together farm families, neighbours, and visitors to honour agricultural excellence, creative homecrafts, and the enduring community values that define Sydenham and its surrounding townships.

A Fair Rooted in Pioneer Life & Township Development

The fair began during the early years of settlement in Loughborough Township, when settlers cleared land, built homesteads, and established farms around the limestone landscapes and lakes of the region. Agricultural societies played a crucial role in supporting these pioneer communities, helping farmers improve livestock, share knowledge, and build strong social ties.

Early Sydenham fairs featured livestock judging, grain and vegetable competitions, handcrafted goods, preserves, quilting, and demonstrations of essential rural skills. These long-standing traditions continue to shape the fair today.
