About the Fair

A Perth East Tradition Celebrating Agriculture, Homecraft & Community Spirit Since the 1860s

The Milverton Fair, hosted by the Milverton Agricultural Society, is one of Perth County’s longest-standing rural celebrations. Its roots trace back to 1865, when the original Mornington Agricultural Society first organized agricultural exhibitions and community gatherings in the region. The present-day Milverton Agricultural Society, legally incorporated in 1863, has proudly carried this tradition forward for more than 150 years.

A Fair Built on Rural Heritage & Early Community Life

When the fair first began, Mornington Township and the developing village of Milverton were supported by family farms, mills, blacksmiths, and small trades. Agricultural societies were essential in these early years, helping farmers improve livestock, share knowledge, and build strong community ties.

Early fairs featured livestock judging, grain and vegetable competitions, preserves, quilting, sewing, and demonstrations of essential homesteading skills. These foundational traditions remain central to the fair today.
