About the Fair
A Bruce County Tradition Celebrating Agriculture, Homecraft & Community Spirit Since 1878
The Mildmay Fall Fair, proudly hosted by the Mildmay Agricultural Society, has been a beloved Bruce County tradition since 1878. For nearly a century and a half, the fair has brought together farm families, neighbours, and visitors to celebrate agricultural excellence, homecraft creativity, and the enduring community spirit that defines Mildmay and the surrounding region.
A Fair Rooted in Rural Settlement & Community Pride
The fair began at a time when Mildmay was a thriving rural village supported by family farms, mills, small industries, and local businesses. Agricultural societies served as vital hubs for improving livestock, sharing farming techniques, and strengthening community cooperation.
Early Mildmay fairs featured livestock judging, crop competitions, preserves, sewing and quilting displays, and demonstrations of essential homesteading skills, many of which remain beloved traditions today.
