About the Fair

A Bruce–Huron Tradition Celebrating Agriculture, Homecraft & Community Spirit Since 1856

The Lucknow Fall Fair, proudly hosted by the Lucknow Agricultural Society, has been a cherished rural tradition along the Bruce–Huron county line since 1856. For more than 165 years, the fair has brought together farm families, neighbours, and visitors to celebrate agricultural excellence, homecraft creativity, and the strong community bonds that define this vibrant rural region.

A Fair Rooted in Pioneer Farming & Early Community Life

The fair began during the early growth of the Lucknow village area, when settlers were establishing farms, building mills, and forming new rural communities. Agricultural societies played a crucial role in these early days, helping farmers improve livestock, share agricultural knowledge, and promote community cooperation.

Early Lucknow fairs featured livestock judging, field crop competitions, garden produce, preserves, needlework, and demonstrations of essential homesteading skills. These founding traditions continue to shape the fair today.
