About the Fair
A Lambton County Tradition Celebrating Agriculture, Homecraft & Community Pride Since 1880
The Brooke–Alvinston–Watford Fall Fair, hosted by the Brooke-Alvinston Agricultural Society, has been a proud Lambton County tradition since 1880. For well over a century, the fair has brought together families, neighbours, and rural communities across Brooke-Alvinston and Watford to celebrate agricultural excellence, homecraft creativity, and the shared community spirit that defines this region.
A Fair Rooted in Early Rural Life & Township Strength
The fair began when the Brooke and Alvinston communities were thriving agricultural townships, supported by family farms, mills, livestock operations, and local trades. Agricultural societies were essential to pioneer life—helping farmers improve livestock, share new farming methods, and build enduring social and economic connections.
Early fairs featured livestock judging, grain and vegetable displays, preserves, quilting, sewing, and demonstrations of practical homesteading skills. These time-honoured traditions remain central to the fair today.

Agriculture at the Heart of the Fair
Agriculture continues to be the foundation of the Brooke–Alvinston–Watford Fall Fair, represented through a wide range of exhibits and competitions:
- Dairy and beef cattle
- Sheep, goats, poultry, and small livestock
- Field crops, grain, hay, vegetables, and garden produce
- Woodworking, rural crafts, and homesteading demonstrations
These displays honour the dedication and expertise of farm families who have shaped Lambton County’s rural identity for generations.
The homecraft divisions, including preserves, baking, sewing, quilting, knitting, floriculture, photography, arts, and junior categories, celebrate the domestic traditions and creativity that enrich rural life.

Youth Participation & Generational Continuity
