About the Fair

A Bruce Peninsula Tradition Celebrating Agriculture, Homecraft & Community Spirit Since 1877

The Wiarton Fall Fair, proudly presented by the Wiarton Agricultural Society, has been a treasured Bruce Peninsula tradition since 1877. For nearly 150 years, the fair has brought together farm families, neighbours, and visitors to celebrate the agricultural excellence, creativity, and community strength that define Wiarton and the surrounding region.

A Fair Rooted in Early Settlement & Peninsula Farming Heritage

The fair began when Wiarton was a bustling lakeside community supported by farms, fishing, lumbering, and emerging rural businesses. Agricultural societies were crucial during that era, offering farmers opportunities to improve livestock, exchange knowledge, and build community networks.

Early fairs featured livestock competitions, grain and vegetable displays, preserves, needlework, quilting, and demonstrations of practical homesteading skills. These cherished traditions remain central to today’s fair.
