About the Fair
A Niagara Region Tradition Celebrating Agriculture, Homecraft & Rural Pride Since 1861
The Wainfleet Fall Fair, proudly presented by the Wainfleet Agricultural Society, has been one of Niagara’s most cherished rural celebrations since 1861. For more than 160 years, the fair has brought together farm families, neighbours, and visitors to honour agricultural excellence, creative homecrafts, and the strong community spirit that defines Wainfleet and its surrounding countryside.
A Fair Rooted in Pioneer Life & Rural Heritage
The fair began during the early development of Wainfleet Township, when settlers were establishing farms, clearing land, running mills, and forming rural communities across the Niagara peninsula. Agricultural societies played an essential role by supporting farmers, improving livestock, sharing knowledge, and strengthening social bonds.
Early fairs featured livestock judging, vegetables and field crops, preserves, needlework, cobblers’ and carpenters’ crafts, and demonstrations of essential homesteading skills, many of which remain central to the fair today.

Agriculture at the Heart of the Wainfleet Fall Fair
Agriculture is the foundation of the Wainfleet Fall Fair and is proudly showcased in exhibits featuring:
- Dairy and beef cattle
- Sheep, goats, poultry, and small livestock
- Field crops, hay, grain, vegetables & produce

The homecraft divisions, including preserves, pies, bread, sewing, quilting, knitting, floriculture, photography, arts, and junior categories, celebrate the domestic creativity and traditional skills that enrich rural community life.
