About the Fair

A Bruce County Tradition Celebrating Agriculture, Craftsmanship & Community Strength

The Teeswater Fair, organized by the Teeswater Agricultural Society, is one of Bruce County’s longest-standing rural traditions. With origins dating back to the mid-1800s, the fair continues to honour agricultural excellence, homecraft traditions, and the deeply rooted community spirit that defines Teeswater and the surrounding townships.

A Fair Built on Early Farming Traditions

The Teeswater Fair began during a time when agricultural societies were forming across Ontario to support farmers, encourage better agricultural practices, and strengthen rural communities. Teeswater, already a thriving agricultural settlement, quickly embraced the value of an annual fair.

Early fairs showcased livestock judging, grain and produce competitions, demonstrations of farming techniques, and displays of domestic arts. These events helped local families share knowledge, celebrate their work, and build connections across the region.
