The fair traces its origins to the Alnwick Agricultural Society, with government records documenting agricultural exhibitions in the township as early as 1856. The organization later became the Roseneath Agricultural Society, continuing a proud tradition that has served the community for well over a century.
Visitors can explore livestock competitions, horse events, homecraft exhibits, field crop displays, horticultural competitions, and educational exhibits while enjoying classic fair attractions such as the truck pull, demolition derby, antique tractor pull, and Show & Shine. The Roseneath Fair continues to celebrate the harvest season while strengthening the connection between agriculture and the local community.
Did You Know?
Historical records show that agricultural exhibitions were being held in Alnwick Township as early as 1856, and the Roseneath Agricultural Society evolved from the original Alnwick Agricultural Society. The fairgrounds continue to host community events throughout the year in addition to the annual fair.

The Roseneath Fall Fair, proudly presented by the Roseneath Agricultural Society, has been a cherished rural tradition in Northumberland County since 1863. For more than 160 years, the fair has brought together farm families, neighbours, and visitors to celebrate agricultural excellence, homecraft creativity, and the strong community spirit that has long defined Roseneath and Alnwick/Haldimand Township.
A Fair Rooted in Early Rural Life & Pioneer Agriculture
The Roseneath area was thriving with farms, mills, and early homesteads by the mid-19th century. Agricultural societies provided vital support, helping farmers improve livestock, learn new techniques, and build connections in rapidly developing communities.
The earliest Roseneath fairs showcased livestock, vegetables, grain, preserves, quilting, needlework, and essential homesteading skills. These hallmark traditions remain at the heart of the fair today.
